Brian Zemil
Board Member
Brian is a lawyer by trade and a yogi for life. Brian is a partner at an international law firm and will serve the Board by providing legal guidance to the Atha Foundation and a commitment to serving our community. Brian promotes and supports a wide range of legal-related civic and charitable endeavors.
Legal foundations and organizations have recognized Brian for his distinguished service to the legal profession and the community (Ed Shea Professionalism Award, MVLS Educator of the Year Award, Benjamin R. Civilletti pro bono of the year award, and for serving on legal service boards). His yogic experiences influence Brian’s passion for public service. He is a former member of the Wise Heart Community in Baltimore (Bihar School of Yoga affiliate). He has been practicing asana for over twenty years with masters, including Dharma Mittra, while also studying and translating Santana-Dharma texts from original Sanskrit to English, attending yogic study retreats, and presenting yoga-related topics at Satsangs.
Brian believes in the power of Mantra and is a Kirtan enthusiast attending musical gatherings led by Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das, and Jahnavi Harrison. Through these experiences, Brian cherishes and seeks to perpetuate the spirit of Bhakti-Yoga and the ideal of “loka-samgraha,” literally translated as “drawing together the world.”
